They tried to charge $100 for a door handle, so we left.
My friends $1000 328is
My other friends 740i
Also, M44s come stock with lovely headers

I know where one of these is wasting away under a car cover at an abandoned(I think) house.

You could probably buy a used part for less than $100 ... the used one should be what? Seven, ten bucks?

Right? We went to another place and they tried to charge $125. Didn't want to negotiate either

Judging by the local craigslist, I’d said maybe $30 for a really nice one? $100 is just their way of saying fuck off I guess

I do not understand some people - if you paid pennies for the mirror, why not sell it for $30?

Why do they charge so much, it seems that at those prices they won’t sell anything. The auto dismantlers in Rancho Cordova California were very reasonable. I bought many subaru parts from there. They also have a very large internet sales. http://allbmwusedparts.com/

All my monies are going toward my DD. If I ever have the money to throw around, I'll stop and ask.

Now that I think about it, they probably want to sell the door as a whole

The Canadian dollar rules out buying anything from the states at a reasonable price....I think they mostly sell to repair shops and want to sell whole doors, not parts off them

Now that you thought about it, that makes sense - if I’m buying a door, I want the whole thing. Did you check dealer/wholesaler for a price? It might not be that bad.

Not yet, I’m checking with the parts store I work with, and then we’ll go to the dealer. Or just fudge something together because it’s a winter beater.

Beater or not, having a working handle is a good feeling.

Did you try any of the BMW owners/fans websites? The E46 enthusiasts website has owners parting out cars. May get a better deal.

He might put out an ISO post for it, the local one does’t have many E36s so i think he just didn’t think to check there first, it’s worth a shot though

man, bmw graveyard gives me a chubbie. The local pick’n’pull has had maybe 4 e30s over the last year. I actually fucked up bad, there was a mint 325is (late model too) with basketweaves, mtech wheel, lsd and a bunch of other goodies. It just got in the day we were there I think, it was pretty much fully assembled. I decided to come back in a few days to load up with a bigger vehicle and it was already picked over.

We barely get anything to pick over now, the pick n pull closed to the public, they only let shops buy parts now before they just crush everything. I'm trying not to think about all the good parts going to waste....the two we went too are two of the only ones left that have anything euro that's at least kind of open to the public
